Amy Carlson

Amy Carlson was raised in Glen Ellyn (Illinois) and was a part of her early years living in Chicago. Amy resided in Glen Ellyn in Illinois until she graduated from junior college. Her family also lived in the Middle East, where her parents, Bob (and Barb) taught at the American School. Amy has three siblings, sisters Betsy and Lori and Joe, the brother. Joe. Amy has traveled across Europe with her family as well as independently. Both of her parents worked as teachers, so they had the opportunity to spend their summers together in the campfire and travelling across the United States. They've camped in every American state with the exception of Alaska. Amy was sent to Rwanda to help in relief efforts after the war in 1994. Amy displayed her talent for art early when she was acting in school plays, as well as winning writing contests. In high school she was a promising athlete who won the first ever 3200 meter relay at the Illinois girls track. In college, after an accident, she returned to the stage with a variety of roles on stage starting with Lanford Wilson's "Fifth of July" and also directing Wallace Shawn's "Aunt Dan and Lemon". Amy graduated from Knox College in Galesburg (Illinois) cum laude with an A.A. in East Asian history and a concentration in Theater. After graduating, she moved to Chicago and pursued a degree in Improv at the Improv Olympic. She also studied acting at The Actor's Center. Shortly after graduation, she was offered a contract for the no-longer-running soap show Another World (1964). The category she was nominated for is "Outstanding supporting actress in the Daytime Drama Series", she was nominated for Daytime Emmy Awards. Her most memorable roles are those played by strong women, including Alex Taylor in Third Watch (1999), Maggie Pistone ((2000)), Katie Owen and Tom Berenger in Peacemakers(2003) and Linda Reagan in Blue Bloods(2003). Carlson currently lives in New York City together with Syd Butler (bassist of Les Savy Fav), as well as being the owner of Frenchkiss Records. Amy continues to pursue unique and diverse role in the field of film.
