Melanie Jayne Lynskey
Melanie Jayne Lynskey, born 16 May 1977
is a New Zealand actress. She is well-known for funny, soft-spoken and powerful
characters. She works mainly in films that are independent. Her nominations
include: a New Zealand Film Award. A Hollywood Film Award. Sundance Special
Jury Award. Gotham Award. Golden Nymph Award. Critics' Choice Award. Screen
Actors Guild Award nominations. Lynskey made her film debut starring as an
aspiring teenage murderess on Peter Jackson's Heavenly Creatures (1994). After
moving to the United States in 1994, Lynskey made a name for herself acting in
supporting roles in a variety of big-budget and smaller-scale films, including
Ever After (1998) and Detroit Rock City and But I'm a Cherleader (both 1999),
Coyote Ugly (2000), Abandon and Sweet Home Alabama (1902), Shattered Glass
(2003) and Flags of Our Fathers (2006). Lynskey was nominated for the Gotham
Award as Breakthrough Performer and was awarded acclaim by critics for her
performance as an unhappy divorcee in Hello I Must be Going (2012). It was a
turning point in her professional career. Her subsequent lead roles included
Happy Christmas and We'll Never Have Paris (all 2014), The Intervention (all
2016), Rainbow Time, Little Boxes I Don't Feel At In This World Anymore (both
2017), Lady of the Manor (2021), Sadie (2018) Sadie (2018), and Lady of the
Manor (both 2018) established her position as an important figure within the
American independent film community. Lynskey is also well-known for her
performance as Rose on Two and a Half Men (2003-2015). From 2015 until 2016she
was a character on Michelle Pierson on the HBO series Togetherness that she was
nominated for the 2015 Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Supporting
Actress. Megan and Beatrice played the roles for Cartoon Network's Over the
Garden Wall (2014). (2016-2018). She was a part of Molly Strand's first season
on Hulu (2018), and Rosemary Thomson was her role in Mrs. America (2020).
