Charisma Carpenter

Charisma Carpenter was born on July 23rd 70 years ago. Cordelia Chase was a character on Buffy the Vampire Slayer's fantasy drama series (1997-1999), and its spin-off series Angel (1999-04). She also appeared as Kyra in Charmed (2004) and as Kendall Casablanca's character on Veronica Mars (2005-2006), Rebecca Sewell in The Lying Game (2012-2013) as well as Lacy in The Expendables film series (2010-2012). Carpenter was born in Las Vegas (Nevada), the daughter of Christine Carpenter, an employee of a bird sanctuary and Don Carpenter, an entrepreneur. She is of Spanish (from her maternal grandfather), French, and German descent. Carpenter attended the Bishop Gorman high school in Las Vegas. Carpenter was also part of a song-and dance troupe which was a part of Las Vegas Valley. Carpenter's family relocated to Rosario Beach (Baja California, Mexico) at the age of Carpenter was 15 years old. She attended Bonita Vista High School and Chula Vista School of the Creative and Performing Arts. After graduation, Carpenter traveled throughout Europe. Carpenter returned to San Diego in 1991 and was employed as an aerobics instructor, a videostore clerk, as well as a property manager. In 1991, she was employed as a cheerleader for the San Diego Chargers football team. In 1992, she moved to Los Angeles.While swimming in San Diego in 1991, she and two male acquaintances were attacked by Henry Hubbard Jr., a former San Diego police officer and serial rapist, who tried to subdue them by threatening them with guns. Her friends as well as Hubbard were killed during the fight. Hubbard fled the scene and her two friends were able to escape. Hubbard was found guilty and sentenced to 56 year imprisonment for a series of rapes and robberies. Carpenter had brought Hubbard his police-issue flashlight to the beach. He had left it at the scene. This flashlight became an important evidence piece against Hubbard.
