ALEX MORGAN BIO

Morgan was born on July 2, 1989 (Alex Morgan age: 30) to Pamela and Michael Morgan. They raised her along with her sisters, Jeni and Jeri, in the Los Angeles suburb of Diamond Bar. Morgan was multisport in her childhood, however she began playing soccer at the age of 14. Morgan joined the Cypress Elite club team and won the Coast Soccer League under-16 championship. Morgan also finished third in the under-19 bracket. Morgan was able to continue to improve her soccer abilities at Diamond Bar High School. The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) chose Morgan to be an All-American Athlete. In addition, she was a part of the state and regional divisions of the Olympic Development Program (ODP). Morgan continued her career in soccer at UC Berkeley where she was the California Golden Bears' leading scoring player from the start of her first season. She led the team to the NCAA Tournament in four years and also to two times to the second round. Morgan became one of four finalists for the Honda Sports Award and the first player from her school to be ranked among the top Hermann Trophy finalists. After graduating early in 2010, Morgan was ranked third in the history of goals and points for Berkeley. Morgan played soccer at both the collegiate as well as national levels throughout her education. Morgan suffered an injury to her ACL during her first year at Berkeley. It prevented her from taking part in U.S. women's under-20 soccer until April of 2008. She scored her debut international goal in Mexico at the CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship. Morgan also participated in the 2008 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup which she scored four goals while receiving an Olympic gold medal, along with other accolades.Morgan was then taken on by the national team's senior squad, for which she substituted and scored several important goals. One of them was a victory over Italy that earned the U.S. team the final place in the 2011 World Cup. Morgan was the youngest player of the team, and he led the U.S. team to victory against France. Morgan was the youngest player on the team and led them to victory against Japan.
